You may remember earlier this year when we taught you how to kick up your old burger routine. We're back with a way to do it super fancy style. We love this version for fall/winter because you make it inside.
The key to this one is leeks. If you've never cooked with leeks before, you are missing out. They have a mellow onion vibe. Relaxed luxury.
It's the burger version of your favorite sweater. It makes you feel secure and confident, ready to take on the world. Only, right now, the world is waiting for you to finish eating.
In this recipe, we sauté the leeks in olive oil and butter until they are perfectly golden. It only takes a couple of minutes. You can do it while the gruyère is melting on top of your burger. Gruyère? Yes. For sure. It's the perfect match for the leeks.
Then a spread of Pepper Sauce on the top bun (we're partial to either the NYC Rooftop or With Garlic for this particular burger) and a spread of mustard on the bottom.
And you may end up with something like this:

This burger that has just the right balance of richness from the meat, butter-braised leeks and gruyère and brightness from our Pepper Sauce.
