The Red Fresno Chili Pepper: Giving You a Better Life

The Red Fresno Chili Pepper. I think you may have heard about it. It is the focal point of our Original A&B American Style Pepper Sauce for good reason. Introduced by Clarence Brown in 1952, the Red Fresno Chili Pepper was named after Fresno, California. It's the Doogie Howser of Chili Peppers (so young and so smart). And, thanks to A&B American Style Pepper Sauce, it's about to become a huge star.

If you were unaware, chili peppers have demonstrated health benefits. They are packed with vitamins A & B (seriously, thiamine, niacin, B6, and riboflavin are present) and are also a good source of vitamin C. They are free from cholesterol and saturated fats, low in calories and sodium, and high in fiber. Sounds like a superfood already, right? There's more.

Chilies have been shown to increase metabolic rates, which means that you burn more calories just for sitting around (though, you may still break a sweat). Chilies have also been shown to help control blood sugar/insulin levels after meals, possibly preventing Type 2 Diabetes. This makes A&B American Style Pepper Sauce a great condiment to use if you are actively managing your weight. Just replace your current condiment with it (especially if that current condiment is mayo).

Red Chilies (like the Fresno) can also aid in the fight against cardiovascular disease. They have been shown to reduce blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels and prevent blood clots. Further, they may prevent prostate cancer by actually convincing cancer cells to kill themselves (no joke! it's called apoptosis).

It's not done yet. Capsaicin, the compound behind the chili's heat, is an anti-inflammatory and a pain reliever. That means eating chilies may can help reduce pain associated with arthritis and can even help clear your congestion. It's like a delicious ibuprofen!

So, if you weren't sure about chilies before, you now have several more reasons to include them in your diet. A&B American Style Pepper Sauce is a a great place to start. We make it in small batches with all natural ingredients for flavor, not just heat.
